Velvet #3 eBook Ed Brubaker Steve Epting Elizabeth Breitweiser
This is the final volume in 3-part international spy story that takes place in the early 1970s. The first two volumes were quite good, but I've knocked down the final a bit because of two problems:1) There is a well known politician who is unfairly smeared in here as part of a plot device. Someone who is very strong in American history will pick up on this and probably be equally bothered by it;
2) The conclusion to the piece - the reason for the framing and pursuit of Velvet - is extremely unsatisfying. I question whether or not Brubaker actually plotted out the whole story before he wrote it out, or if he figured it out as he was writing. It seems like the latter, particularly because of the strong start and week finish.
Steve Epting's art is very good and fits well for this kind of spy story.
It's entertaining. It should be read at all once, but I expect that other critical readers will be similarly disappointed by the ending.

Velvet #3 eBook Ed Brubaker Steve Epting Elizabeth Breitweiser Reviews
This is the conclusion of this particular three-part story (#1-Before the Living End; #2-The Secret Lives of Dead Men; and #3 The Man Who Stole The World) of Velvet's journey. There were some surprises, twists and turns and it ended up being a good story. I would love to read more of Velvet's adventures. I most definitely recommend.
Just what I said. Paid for what I thought was VOLUME 3 in digital format, got #3 which I already had read in vol 1 and wasted my money. But the series is flat awesome and Ed Brubaker has an insane amount of talent.
thank you
I desperately hope they continue this series. It is the best comic on the market today.
If you have not read Velvet, you are in for a treat. If you have read the other Velvet volumes, you obviously must finish the story. Either way, buy it!
This story is not just set in the 70s, it is part of history. Don't think you can guess what's coming. Just relish the great story telling.
It really ended on high note
Velvet. I adore Velvet. Not only is she a total badass but she is a middle aged badass with laugh lines and crows feet. I love that she isn't some 20 something hottie tearing up the place. She is a beautiful and confident woman who is a step ahead of everyone. This was the perfect ending to one of my favorite new series. I can't recommend it enough.
I just discovered Brubaker's work a couple of months ago, and have been happily buying the projects he's collaborated on ("Criminal"; "The Fade Out"; "Sleeper"; "Incognito"). I think I like the Velvet series the best I like the protagonist (Velvet), the action, the plot and storyline, and of course the art. The whole "spy/double-agent" motif was very appealing to me. Honestly, I did not want this series to end. Some of the other series were not enough down-to-earth for my tastes (e.g. "Incognito" and "Sleeper," as fantastic as they are, they still involve super-heroes and super-anti-heroes, which just don't resonate with me like the more real-world stuff).
[SPOILER ALERT]
My only slight quibble with this issue is the whole thing involving the kidnapping of a U.S. President, which was a little TOO far out there.
